Asheville is a small town of just under 100,000 and surrounded by mountains, Christine, but I still have to work a bit to get out into nature, especially from my current residence. I was struck by the transitions between the human and natural environments on this ride. And not only for their contrasts: there's mystery and beauty in both, though I'm awed by grandeur and beauty in a particular way. (I love your nature photos in that particular way.)
