Dear NativeFriend, I understand that racism is usually the term used to describe the attitude that non-natives have toward natives, but as an indigenous person, do you view your indigenous identity as a racial one? I think of indigeneity as an identity established by place, not race.

I think I understand that as a target of oppression, you may not distinguish. I am asking more about your own understanding of identity so that I do not conflate differences that are important to others.
