Excellent and important piece, Dustin. I've heard and read several similar arguments today, and they can't be said too often. MLK Jr. held views that would make nearly all of us uneasy: he condemned consumerism and militarism, advocated for the poor, and recognized that violence can be "the voice of the unheard." When we treat him solely as a prophetic voice of healing and reconciliation, we misunderstand and misrepresent him.
