Great piece, M.J. and kudos on your resolution. I hear you.
I’ve never been on FB or X, so those are not platforms I have to quit. But I’m contemplating quitting several of my news subscriptions when I am “retired” after this coming semester. Even mainstream headlines are grim and fear-inducing, and I don’t see the need to “be informed” and ace The NY Times weekly news quiz when I’m not teaching.
I suspect I’ll experience some of the same benefits you describe here.
