Ha! Well, that's certainly an option, Kasey, but I think I'd prefer a little more height and a little more cushion than those shorties provided.

I ran a 10 miler on June 1 here in Asheville that was essentially 5 miles up and 5 miles down--the race site listed about 1400' of total elevation though my watch measured "only" 1050'--and the downhill portion, at race speed, just about killed me. Not during the race, though it was uncomfortable, but in the week following: hip, knee, shin, you name it, it hurt.

And I didn't even place in my age group for the first time in years. Talk about adding insult to injury! But then again, I didn't wear those socks...
