I admit that I raised an eyebrow at a review of Augustine's Confessions...as a 5 minute read. But somehow you do more than review, you respond to Augustine. I could imagine this as the introductory preface to an edition of the Confessions. This is quite amazing. It's not easy to find the heart of a long and complex work and lay it out, with connection and humility.
