I don't seek out cafes very often--but I've been known to take a book and/or notebook to a brewery. We have them everywhere: there are about 60 in our county of 270,000 people. (There are four on the main road not far from my house.)
Music is often an issue there, too. If not the music, trivia night. If not trivia night, a social gathering. I thought I'd struck gold a few weeks ago when I went later to one of the local venues and walked in to find only four other patrons, all seated at the bar. I ordered a lovely English dark mild and settled in. But peace was not to be. Those four patrons were all loud and prolix beer enthusiasts, and between their pronouncements and the music I could not gather my thoughts.
The beer was still delicious.
Lovely piece as usual, Michelle.
