I have a graveyard story, Melissa. The church of my childhood was one my family had belonged to for several generations, and it had (and has) a large cemetery. And many, many tombstones bear the name "Hook." I spent a lot of time wandering around trying to connect all the dots--and dates--to understand how I was related to and descended from all those people. And the monuments that always touched me were the ones with only a few years between Born and Died.

But I don't recall any very meaningful epitaphs. Things like "Loving Wife and Mother" or "At Home with the Lord" are all I remember, nothing like what we see in antiquity. I don't know when that fell out of fashion.

Thank you as always for reading and responding!
