I have had the tendency in the past to be a nervous over-talker. When unsure or uncomfortable with the silences in a conversation, especially in social settings with new people, I tended to fill them.

I've tried to shift to being a question-asker in those circumstances. I suppose one can be an "over-questioner" too, but it seems more comfortable to turn the light on others and let them shine, especially when you're truly interested in learning about them.
