I know St. John's pretty well, Ginger. If they're hiring, I'll consider it! Honestly, if they are hiring, they should hire a new and younger Ph.D., one who's more attuned to the field and its contemporary issues than I am. I'm a much better teacher than I was at 27 (!) when I earned my Ph.D. and I know the languages better, but I haven't been reading widely in contemporary scholarship or listening to the best lecturers passing through my graduate program.

But I am sure that you are right about my loving their commitment to the subjects and authors I value. I first encountered Socrates as an 19-year-old sophomore, and he hasn't finished with me yet, 40 years later.

Thank you for reading and responding, my friend. I appreciate you.
