I'm a tenured professor at a university but I feel some of the things you describe. It is a very difficult time in education at every level right now.

I do think the suggestions that others made are very good and worth considering. Would a different subject area make a difference, if that's possible, or age group, or school/town/state? Would a private school be better? Is there a way to be involved in education but not in the classroom, e.g. tutoring, advocacy, journalism, professional content creation, administration?
