If Tim Allen did acknowledge that action and apologize, would restorative justice require Pamela Anderson to forgive him? Perhaps she would. Perhaps she does. But must she, for restorative justice to take place?
I remember teaching a class with college seniors in 2018 and being surprised at the way reconciliation was rejected. "How can you ask the abused to forgive or reconcile with her abuser?" I didn't have an answer for the question, and I still don't. It's not what you're asking here, but it seems related, and I generally think restoration and reconciliation are crucial stages in personal and societal healing.
Great piece.
