I'm not on LinkedIn but I recently published a piece on losing my job, and the number of comments that assured me that this was just an opportunity for finding a better path seemed, well, confusing and a little tone-deaf albeit kind and encouraging. I attributed it to a Christianity-tinged "All will be well" response to loss, but I think your diagnosis here is likely more correct as to the source.
