I'm sure most toxic bosses are men, but not all. I had a departmental chair who exemplified all you described and more. In the academy that scenario proved even more debilitating because she simply claimed that she was the victim of sexism, even when other women said the same (we, the men, had persuaded them). In the university, sexism is worse than toxicity, so the administration turned a blind eye, shrugged, and encouraged us to work it out. It was (and still is, though she's no longer chair) a horrible situation.
