Isn't the real money in television? The NBA is looking at a new 11 year deal for next year for $75 billion:

"Under an 11-year term, $75 billion in rights fees would average out to around $6.8 billion per year. Under the current deals, which average out to $2.7 billion per year, ESPN pays around $1.4 billion and Turner $1.2. Keeping that same split, ESPN would pay around $3.6 billion and Turner $3.2."

The "good" news is that the WNBA hopes to double its media contract in the next cycle, thanks to increased interest.

The bad news: "The league’s existing arrangements with ESPN, Ion and Amazon are believed to be worth up to US$60 million a season."

We can't all attend games and may not want to buy merch, but we can all watch!

Great piece.
