"It's not about me." You've probably seen David Foster Wallace's commencement 2005 speech, "This Is Water," but I'll share it here. As Wallace notes, it's a banal platitude to say so, but it's the fundamental challenge for all of us in our efforts to burrow beneath our default setting to be truly conscious and aware.
