So many solid observations here, Stephen, but I'll respond to #4.

This is the national discussion that we need to have. Online education is a wonderful way to expand opportunity to those who couldn't attend school otherwise, but it is not an equivalent connection or relationship to the classroom presence and personal instruction of a professor. That's part of what's being lost at my university, in addition to specific disciplines like mine.
