This feels very true, Melissa. I sometimes think of what you describe in terms of conflicting roles and duties, though that doesn't represent their emotional content that your piece captures so well. But yes, it's hard to be a dad, a partner, a dog owner, a teacher, a friend, etc. etc. and do everything well.
