Very much appreciated, my friend. The uncertainty has been the worst. But now the decision to eliminate the department has been made. We hope that the three of us in the department will be reassigned to other departments (English, Foreign Languages, Art History) and allowed to offer Classics as a minor. That would preserve a teaching position for a little longer, even if it's not quite what I used to do. Those decisions, about minors and personnel, will be made by the end of September, we've learned. I suspect that my numbness will dissipate along with the uncertainty, and if I know on October 1 that July 1, 2025 or 2026 is my last day of employment, I'll change gears and start planning in a different way.

Thanks for reading and responding, and for your kindness. I appreciate you.
