Well, yeah, singleness has its benefits, but you can have some of the benefits you name in a good relationship, too! (One with mistreatment does not qualify as good.) Speaking for myself, I'm not as awesome alone: I'm a better self when I'm yielding and listening to another person. Or so a half century plus suggests.
