What a lovely, honest, introspective piece, Yael. You expressed something I’ve felt without articulating about that week between Christmas and New Year’s, or those 12 days between Christmas and Epiphany. We need something both lasting and gradual, and the way we do post-Christmas is primarily about recovery, not sustainability.
I have the complication of a birthday on Dec. 28, and this (past) year was 60. So one more urgency in that week for me, and one less opportunity to stretch out the experience of Christmas and the solstice.
