I was struck by your mountain meditation from Waterrock Knob especially because I've had that same sense there more than elsewhere, though without putting it into words. As you know, there are a couple of signboards that reproduce the vistas you see and that identify the various peaks and landmarks. For the life of me, I can't look up from those boards and map the mountains identified. I'm not sure why. None of them is distinct from the others, none stands alone like Mt. Hood or Kilimanjaro, I suppose, so I've stood there looking from map to vista, shrugging and wondering why I'm trying at all. They just are. Together.
