You've exposed my lack of research, Gwen! The shame!

Somewhere in the back of my mind I knew that farriers had to exist because horses have to be shod, but I liked my analogy of one technology (horse-riding) replaced by another (cars), and I stuck with it.

On the bright side: I'm now going to farrier school to do that, since there's clearly a market and a need.
